Battery Health Check Up
Lithium Battery Servicing & Assessment
Electric Pedal Power provides inspection and limited repair services for lithium batteries used in e-bikes, e-scooters, skateboards, and similar small mobility devices. In many cases, batteries can be restored or stabilised without full replacement. If you’d like more detail on the points below, please refer to our related blog post here (link).

What we can help with
-
Battery diagnostics and health reporting, including visual inspections, voltage and balance checks, and load testing - providing assurance on overall battery health, including water damage, shorted wires, insulation integrity, cell quality, stability, performance, and cell balance
-
Battery balancing - can restore full range and health
-
BMS (Battery Management System) replacement where compatible
-
Wiring repairs (balance leads, main power cables)
-
Fuses, connectors, and charge/discharge port replacements
-
Spot welding repairs or reinforcement of nickel strips linking cells
-
Charger testing
-
Supplying full replacement internal battery packs or equivalent new battery - simple rectangular or triangular cases only
- Provide advice and consultation on suitable replacements and battery safety
Good candidates for battery assessment & recovery
-
Bike/scooter cuts out after a short ride, error message on display relating to battery fault, display turns off
-
Battery was working normally, then suddenly stopped charging or only works when plugged in
-
Gradual range loss over 6–12 months with early cut-outs
-
Battery still shows measurable voltage (not fully dead) e.g. 4-6V or alternatively 60-80% of full
-
Battery has been in regular use and issues were noticed early
- Battery shows true 0 V but was working fine until very recently
Poor candidates for battery recovery
-
Battery is 4–5+ years old and sat unused or uncharged for long periods
-
Battery shows a true 0 V reading and is not recent
-
Battery has been stored unused for months or years before first inspection
-
Bike/scooter cuts out but display and electronics remain on (other issues are likely)
-
Highly integrated or sealed battery systems with discontinued internal parts
Work we do not carry out
-
Replacing individual lithium cells within an existing pack (matching cell internal resistances is critical for safety)
-
Lead-acid battery repairs or replacements (these are readily available and inexpensive from local suppliers)
-
Replacing BMS units in highly integrated or proprietary battery systems
-
Complex circuit board or switch-level electronic repairs (replacement of individual items is typically more affordable and reliable)
- Battery is self/home-built, visibly damaged, or has had repair work attempted by others (opened batteries are not accepted)
All batteries are assessed on a case-by-case basis. After inspection, we’ll advise whether repair is viable, limited work is sensible, or replacement is the safer option. Most batteries can typically be recovered.
